Wildcats Open Season with 2-0 Win Over West Springfield

The Wildcat Field Hockey Team opened its season with a 2-0 shutout over West Springfield. Terrific passing on offense and blocking on defense helped the Wildcats defeat the Spartans for the first time in three years. Alex Peterson scored 10 minutes into the first half, off a rebound from the goalie's pads.  Susie Lesniewski scored 5 minutes into the second half, with an assist from Katie Russell off a penalty corner.  On defense, Annie Paradis, Vicky LaLiberte, and Rachel Behne helped goalies Carolyn Macek (1st half, 3 saves) and Betsy McCracken (2nd half, 4 saves) preserve the shutout.
