| Wildcats Fall to South County 1-0; Finish 4th in Bulldog Invitational The South County Stallion Field Hockey Team handed the Wildcats its second loss of the season with a 1-0 victory. Despite the loss, the Wildcats still finished 4th out of 10 teams in the Bulldog Invitational Tournament. South County's goal came in the first half on a hard shot that rebounded off the stick of one of our defenders, past starting goalkeeper Betsy McCracken. Second half goalkeeper, Carolyn Macek, had 4 saves, including a nice split save directly on top of the goal line. As her pads were then blocking the ball from play, South County was awarded a penalty stroke, which Macek saved handily with another split. Susie Lesniewski, at midfield, had an exceptional game both offensively and defensively - showing great passing, stick skills and "flying" against South County's 9 penalty corners. Centreville's offense made a strong run at the end of the second half, taking 6 penalty corners, but was unable to convert. |
