Northern Region Meet Results
The girls were led by Maryn Wood who placed 6th in the 55 meter dash (7.43) and 3rd in the 300 meter dash (41.84). Both times were Personal Record's for Maryn and she will compete in both at the State Championship this coming weekend. Her 55 meter dash time also qualified her for the National Championship meet in March.
On the boys side, the 4x800 relay of Chris Jones, Chan Young Lee, Dan Molina and Chase Heiner fought past a baton mishap to finish 6th in a tough field. They will compete at the State Championship, as they ran the qualifying standard at the New Balance Invitational in New York. The boys 4x400 relay team of Brett Martin, Mike Wright, Texas Williams and Chase Heiner finished 4th overall and qualified for the State meet by time.
The State Championships take place Friday and Saturday at the Boo Williams Sports Complex in Hampton, VA. The CVHS competitors will be Maryn Wood, in the 55 meters and 300 meters. Chase Heiner in the 1000 meters, where he will take a shot at his older brother's 2004 school record. The Boys 4x400 meter relay team of Brett Martin, Mike Wright, Texas Williams and Chase Heiner. Lastly, the Boys 4x800 meter relay team of Chris Jones, Chan Young Lee, Dan Molina and Chase Heiner.
VHSL State Meet Results
Congratulations to the CVHS Indoor track team members who participated in the VHSL State Meet in Newport News during February 25-26. The boys 4x400 relay team of Brent Martin, Mike Wright, Texas Williams and Chase Heiner finished in 7th place overall , which also qualified them for the All-State team. Additionally, sophomore Maryn Wood ran another personal best in the 300-meter race.
These five athletes will now participate in the 2012 New Balance Nationals Indoor Meet, to be held at the New York City 168th Street Armory on March 9-11. Martin, Wright, Williams and Heiner will compete in the Boys Sprint Medley relay, and Wood will compete in the Girls 60-meter event. Also joining them will be the Boys 4x800 relay team of Chris Jones, Daniel Molina, Chan Young Lee and Chase Heiner, as well as Jackie O'Shea in the Freshman Girls 3200-meter race. Finally, freshman Bobby Dunn will be joining the boys relay teams as an alternate.
